My name is Karolína Olsen. I´m 23 years old from Akranes, Iceland. 

My interests are mostly street photography, art history, painting, tattoo work and body modifications. I have also been getting into illustrations lately.  My final project was a collection of all my interests because I took photos of nacked bodys and illustrated tattoos on the bodies. 

I studied art in Fjölbrautaskólinn í Breiðholti (Breiðholt College, Reykjavik, Iceland) and graduated from there in 2021. My last two years in school I managed the student gallery which is called Gallerí Gubb, see the Instagram page for the Gallerí https://www.instagram.com/gallerigubb/ . I also manage the galleries social media page, book shows and helped with everything surrounding the exhibits. I really loved this work and working with other artists. I was also the foreman of the Photography committee my first year in the school, I was really honored being picked for that part. 

Twice I've gotten the opportunity to travel overseas on behalf of the school. First time was in 2015 I went to Norway to an entrepreneurial camp with three of my fellow students.  We won an award for the best idea at the Camp. The project involved finding the best and most realistic ideas to help senior citizens live in their own homes for as long as possible. Second time was in January 2021 when I got the opportunity to go to Portugal and take part in an art project by the name of ST'ART where I and my fellow students worked towards ideas to enhance society in an artistic way.

    College in Iceland is usually 3-4 years, but I´m finishing school a bit later than that. I took some time off, traveled through Asia for 3 months, studied calligraphy and worked various jobs. This experience made me more determined to get a good education and that is why I'm applying at your school.
